Frequently Asked Question

Why should I be interested in renting to a traveler?

By trade, travelers are well educated and responsible adults.  The real question is who wouldn’t want to rent to them?!  They typically stay in one place for 3-12 months at a time, making it a great option if you don’t want your place rented out long term.

I have a spare bedroom, would a traveler be interested?

Yes!  This is a great budget saving option for many travelers who want to spend their hard earned cash on adventure rather than a rental. Make sure your room rate is competitive by keeping it affordable.  Try to include details in your listing that will attract a renter such as access to bathrooms, common areas, whether utilities are included and any other fun bonuses that they won’t be able to resist (hot tub, anyone?).

I have a large home, can I rent it?

Of course, some travelers bring their families with them or will share a rental with other travelers in the area.  Each traveler has different expectations and needs so offering your specific option, whether big or small, could be the perfect fit for someone.

What is a traveler looking for in a rental?

Comfort and convenience are key.  Things like included utilities and practical furnishing so they don’t have to bring much from home will give you an upper hand.  Additionally, a well-stocked kitchen with utensils and gadgets and any other bonuses can renters the incentive they are looking for.  Finding short term rentals can be hard for travelers with most general rental listings requiring large deposits and a minimum of a one year for a lease.  Providing your listing on an easy to use site for them to find and contact you will make their rental search an easy and enjoyable experience.

How can I get my place ready for a traveler?

Furnish the home or room with basic necessities such as a bed, desk and dresser.  Stock the kitchen with all the comforts of home you’d expect such as a coffee machine, utensils, pots, pans, dishes, etc. The easier it is for them to transition the more likely they are to choose your rental and be a satisfied with their choice.
